e Academy’s 70mm series of showings this summer, with the film’s now 95-year-old star, Kirk Douglas. Former Academy President Tom Sherak whipped up the crowd before Douglas was brought out. When he arrived, they bathed the show-business legend in a sustained standing ovation, a wonderful and lovely gesture. 

Pete talks about some of the great behind-the-scenes trivia of the making of “Spartacus,” the jousting between the producer-star and director Stanley Kubrick, the Oscar stiffing the film received (at least in the big categories) and why said stiffing may have happened, and so much more.
